Our Mission
The Fondazione Internazionale Biodiversità del Mediterraneo, established on January 26, 2023 with headquarters in Palermo, is dedicated to the protection of rarefied animal species and the reintroduction of extinct species in the Sicilian territory.
With our current location in Contrada Volpignano, Agro di Collesano, we are committed to restoring environmental balances and promoting a sustainable development model that values and protects natural heritage, contributing to the recognition of the holistic One Health vision that links human, animal and ecosystem health.
Our Projects
Our flagship projects include the reintroduction of the griffon vulture in the Madonie Park and other Sicilian areas, as well as the repopulation of the extremely rare Egyptian vulture. We collaborate with the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Sicily, Rotary International 2110 Sicily and Malta, and ISPRA in the LIFE Egyptians vultures project.
We also support the training of young scholars through scholarships and prizes for original research, contributing to the growth of scientific knowledge about Mediterranean fauna and encouraging environmental and wildlife restoration efforts.
